HEBREWS 13:5
Greed is a dangerous trap that destroys the lives of its victims.
“Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own, but how much impact you have made”.
I have met, and spoken to many people in an attempt to settle one dispute or another; among husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, business partners, technocrats, academicians and even the clergy, about this canker. Many in a rather myopic thinking assume that, greed is their blatant trait. In reality however, it is a vicious character flaw that also works subtly, working stealthily to rob a person of a healthy life and joy.
“Surely, in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird; But they lie in wait for their own blood, they lurk secretly for their own lives. So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; it takes away the life of its owners”.(Proverbs 1:17-19)
Greed is a trap. It catches unassuming people and keeps them in perpetual bondage over their desires. It’s a silent danger. Greedy people fall into myriad of problems. Greed leads to war, broken marriages, collapse of businesses, civil strikes and even death. I have seen churches split because of greed. Senior pastors, junior pastors, church leaders and members alike. A nation full of greed never develops. Most of the bribery scandals that have hit our nation and individuals are all as a result of greed; it leads them to participate in unlawful acts to gain more money. Greed for material gain leads to cheating, stealing, robbery, deceit. Greedy people want to get more wealth by any means at any cost.
God is ever faithful to bless us. Stop the haste. Stop the rush to get to the top. The reason many people crush is because they are rushing.
“How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked”….(Psalm 1:1)
“My child if sinners (greedy people, wicked, selfish, covetous; emphasis mine) entice you, turn your back”.
(Proverbs 1:10)
Ghana is stagnant because of greed. The church (universal church) is not united because of greed…
