Liberty Breakfast: By Luke Barson (Rev)-“Worrying Keeps You Stuck” Pt. 2

ISAIAH 41:10

I know we all worry sometimes. But I have realised that, worrying is a futile attempt to control the uncontrollable.

We can’t control the pattern of rainfall, so we worry about the rains and our choked gutters. People worry about “market forces” of the economy they can’t control, so they worry about the economy. Many people worry about the future they can’t control, we can only plan for the future, but we can’t control it. Worry, to the best of my knowledge never solves anything.

“Worry is a futile thing, somewhat like a rocking chair. Although it occupies your time, it doesn’t get you anywhere”. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and drink, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds….?( Matthew 6:25-34 NIV)

“Worry never empties tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength ”

Worry happens when we assume responsibilities God never intended for us to have. The enemy’s goal is to drain the spiritual life out of you with stress and negative anxiety. Worry is like a predator biting the neck of a prey to suffocate it. God is big enough to carry your burden, why burden yourself?

“Cast all your burdens unto Him, because He cares”..( 1 Peter 5:7)

Worry is an issue of faith. People who trust God do not worry much, because “faith says all things are possible”. Worry is a sign you trust your emotions. Who do you trust; God or your emotions?

Never worry about things you can’t control. Many believers spend too much time obsessing and stressing out over things like childlessness, marriage, politics, traffic etc. It is counterproductive to worry about things you can’t control or change. Focus on God. Be a kingdom minded believer.

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added…( Matthew 6:33)

To be cont..

Stay blessed always and remember to love someone and mean it.
