Liberty Breakfast: by Luke Barson (Rev)-How Committed Are You To God? pt. 1

DANIEL 6:10

“NOW WHEN DANIEL LEARNED THAT THE DECREE HAD BEEN PUBLISHED, HE WENT HOME TO HIS UPSTAIRS ROOM WHERE THE WINDOWS OPENED TOWARD JERUSALEM. THREE TIMES A DAY HE GOT DOWN ON HIS KNEES AND PRAYED, GIVING THANKS TO HIS GOD, JUST AS HE HAD DONE BEFORE”.

Gradually but steadily, the year is coming to an end. We are already in the eighth (8) month, with many unfulfilled dreams, visions and aspirations. This is the most reason why you need to be reminded and encouraged, to come out of your comfort zone and redirect your energy towards the supplier of all good things ( God)

August is our month of COMMITMENT at LIBERTY HOUSE CHRISTIAN CENTRE. Our commitment is not just to God, but to our dreams, families, professions, friends ,businesses and jobs. We all claim we belong to God. We ( believers) have always been referred to as “God’s own possession”; ( 1 Peter 2:9), “servants unto obedience”,( Romans 6:16),

“Doers of the word”( James 1:22) and many other descriptions of such in the New Testament. These statements are not just for fun, and they are not just arbitrary designations. They are God’s expectations of us; and what is more, everyone of those descriptions indicate that, believers are expected to be committed. Daniel knew the dangers and the consequences of defying the orders of the king, but he was committed to a cause; His commitment to his God is unquestionable. The modern day believer is committed to God only as long as his/ or her basic needs are met by God. Paul puts it this way;

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”.( Romans 14:17).

Christianity isn’t a past event; Christianity is a lifestyle, it’s a habit; habits and lifestyles are difficult to stop. That’s why Daniel, even at the peril of his life, couldn’t stop praying to his God. Everything we do,everything we say and every decision we make, must be governed by God’s will, not our emotions, eloquence, educational background or technical know-how.

It’s not just enough to tell God and others we are committed, if we don’t make time to be in His presence to pray and do His work by committing our energies and resources to expand His ( God’s) Kingdom.

To be cont…

Stay blessed always and remember to love someone and mean it.
