JEREMIAH 9:23-24
It is often said that; “The faith of a true a believer is seen in the midst of crisis”. In other words,”Crisis never makes any man, it only reveals what he already is”. That is the reason why no true believer must boast or brag about his wealth, accomplishments, education, faith, family etc.
In my personal opinion, boasting does not only carry traits of pride, but it is also a form of dishonesty. How can you praise yourself for something God has done, for which God deserves praise? Intelligence, power and wealth are all gifts from God. God’s gifts are for our humble attitude, not for boasting and bragging. (1 Corinthians 4:7)
I have seen how people boast about their wisdom and how smart they are; in politics, in the business environment and even in ministry. The ability to outwit and outsmart people and swindle or defraud them is not wisdom. The Bible calls such wisdom “sensual and devilish”. (James 1:12-17) No Christian should boast about how he or she has been able to take advantage of the vulnerable in society. I have seen people brag about the power they have, they forget that, whatever power anyone has, is granted by God. (John 19:10-11)
When people forget that God is the source of their wealth and success, they want to take credit for themselves, brag, boast and mock others. “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plenty. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said to himself, .. But God said to him, ‘you fool!! This night your soul will be taken from you..” ( Luke 12:16-21
Please take it easy my dear brother and sister. The people you derided, disrespected and looked down upon may just be the people who might help you out one day. They will not stay at the bottom forever.
“Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field, he will pass away. …James 1:9-11
“No one has ever made himself great by showing how small someone else is”.
Stay blessed always and remember to love someone and mean it.
