The Youth Employment Agency, (YEA) has entered into a partnership with the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP) to create jobs for the youth in the country.
To this end, the two state institutions BestNewsGH.com can report, have signed an agreement that will see them officially commence the collaborative partnership in earnest.
BestNewsGH.com can also report that the collaboration will see the NEIP offer entrepreneurial training to some Ten Thousand (10,000) beneficiaries of the YEA modules and to equip them to start their own businesses in a sustainable manner.
This, the Chief Executive Officer of the YEA, Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong explained at the signing ceremony on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, will ensure that YEA beneficiaries who exit the modules, are trained and supported with start-up capital, to start their own businesses.
‘’We believe that the collaboration between the YEA and the NEIP, means taking the Youth Employment Agency to a different level, whereby the youth of this country, those in particular who have gone through our various modules will get the first opportunity to go through the entrepreneurship training from NEIP and YEA, and then we will also look at how we will help them access start-up capital to enable them venture into new lives, so that it will not be that people went through our modules and they have exited and there is no exit package for them’’ Mr. Kodua opined.
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the NEIP, Mr. John Kumah indicated that the main idea is to help realize government’s vision of creating not just jobs, but sustainable jobs for the youth of the country.
According to him, the move is in pursuance of the vision of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who has always made it clear that job creation, particularly for the youth will always be an integral part of his government.
‘’The key here is the complementarity of roles between the two agencies in order achieve the vision of the president. We know the impact the YEA has made in the country and the many successes that has been achieved in the past two years. The NEIP has also come in to transform the entrepreneurship eco-system of Ghana and especially with a focus on young people on how to unearth their talents and help to empower them to believe that they can create the jobs that they are seeking’’ Mr. Kumah said.
He added that ‘’With all the preparation and experience that they receive while they go through the YEA programme, after they exit, what is next? It is to answer that question that the YEA and the NEIP have come together to ensure that before you exit or even while you are exiting, we must have a strategy to prepare you to be on your own.’’
According the NEIP Boss, the training of the YEA beneficiaries will be followed up with a financial support package for Business ideas that are deemed innovative enough, to be funded from the Presidential Business Support Fund.
