EPHESIANS 3:17

“I PRAY THAT, YOU BEING ROOTED AND ESTABLISHED IN LOVE, MAY HAVE POWER….TO GRASP HOW WIDE AND LONG AND HIGH AND DEEP IS THE LOVE OF CHRIST”.

Growing up, I was only made to understand by my primary school teacher, that The Cross was a symbol of suffering.

I really never understood that, it was an expression of God’s Love for humankind. “Nothing demonstrates God’s Love powerfully than the cross”. The Cross is the fundamental message; the core understanding of the Christian gospel is what creates growth, binds the Church and distinguishes Christianity from other religions. Jesus wasn’t forced to die, His life wasn’t taken away from Him, He willingly gave it up. He wasn’t overpowered or tricked into it. He chose the cross because He loves us. His passionate love took Him to the cross; with its pain, humiliation, rejection and complete separation from God.

“For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at right hand of the throne of God” Hebrews 12:2

Throughout our lives, we also have the opportunity to show God how much we love Him by expressing it to the people around us. We do it not to earn His Love, but in response to His unconditional, unstoppable love, because our hearts carry the same passion that lives in Christ. Today, I urge you to activate that passion in your life. Your whole being as a believer should be an expression of love, not just for those who love you, but even so for those who hate you, hurt you, betrayed you and rejected you. Share His Love passionately with your family, reach out to others, forgive and reconcile with those who stabbed you at the back. Before you could choose Him, he chose you. John 15:16

When you were bitter, broken, rejected and blaming, he went to the cross to make you whole and showed you the sweet taste of forgiveness. When all hope was lost, He became your hope, and when you were lost, He found you and rescued you and showed you mercy. When you were disappointed by friends, family and loved ones, He taught you that disappointment can be the appointment He ordained.

As we celebrate GOOD FRIDAY, our focus is on the cross, the ultimate expression of love Himself. If you need to be reminded of His personal love, lift your head up and see Him on the cross.

Stay blessed always and remember to love someone and mean it.
