PROVERBS 20:6
Most people know what it means to be a servant or a Christian. But what the modern day Christian doesn’t know is what it means to be “a faithful servant or Christian”.
Many believers are simply “cosmetic church goers”. It is amazing how people profess Christianity and yet it’s difficult to find traces of Christ-like character and attitude in them.
“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long suffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man has a quarrel against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do you”. (Colossians 3:12-13)
A faithful Christian loves his or her heavenly Father, and strives to do and follow what the Bible says. It means, making choices in life will be informed and guided by what Jesus would have done. It means being faithful to small things; keeping a promise ( Most of us are guilty here,isn’t it?) Paying a debt in time, giving an honest answer ( which most people don’t want to hear these days in church) to a painful question. It means watching the words that proceed out of our mouths. Many Christians exaggerate these days when telling a story. They can not be confidential, and many have become “revealers of secrets” of friends. People sit in church with wrong motives. The basic motive keeping them in the church, office or organisation is greed, selfishness and their parochial interest. Live your life to please God. A genuine and faithful Christian does not proclaim his or her own goodness. It takes humility to come to a faithful life as a Christian in all secret corners of our thoughts, our words, and in all our deeds.
When we are totally committed to being faithful to God, and to all the laws of the Spirit of life that reveals Christ to us, He totally commits Himself to us so that we can succeed in all aspects of our Christian life.
