Liberty Breakfast: By Luke Barson (Rev)-“Doubt” Pt 4

JOHN 20:26-29

I engaged a lady recently whose mother was suffering from a strange ailment. I remember visiting her and the mother at a prominent hospital (name withheld) two months ago and prayed with the mother.

My prayers centred on two (2) things: 1 “God let this strange ailment disappear”.

  1. “Reveal the source of this strange ailment to the medical team working on her”. But I was confident the first prayer will work and that “the growth” will disappear. We serve a God of miracles. She told me to the face during our conversation, after the prayers, that, she had given up all hope.(DOUBT HAS STARTED) “When doubt lingers in your heart for a long time, it becomes unbelief”.

“I didn’t go to the hospital to deal with the lady’s doubt or unbelief, I went to the hospital to exercise my faith”. One thing was certain; she was honest about her doubts. You need to be honest to confront anything you are scared of in life. “Jesus said to him, “if you can, all things are possible to him who believes”….”Lord, I believe, help my unbelief”. (Mark 9:23-25 NKJV)

Christians are not called to pretend they have no doubts, but even in our doubts, we must trust God. Do you trust God to improve your situation, or you doubt Him? I have heard countless times, people say, “I m content with my anger, arrogance, pride, rudeness, I know I can’t change”. Sometimes, people puzzle in church, but scriptures, prophecies and miracles don’t move them in the house of God. Bring those doubts to Jesus. Confide in a trusted friend, and gather around people who are daring, positive, hopeful and FAITH-FUL.

The believer’s faith must be infectious, that, even the most doubtful person can be converted. Anytime doubt rears it’s ugly head, remember the promises of God. “He( Abraham) did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief….”( Romans 4:20-21)

Keep reminding yourself of God’s promises and His prophecies. Refuse to be overtaken by any negative thoughts. Your doubts need not equal your defeats. Refuse to feed your doubts by recounting how many times you have failed, defeated or couldn’t try at all.

Stop asking rhetorical questions. Just be very comfortable with the phrase; “I DON’T KNOW HOW,BUT I KNOW GOD WILL DO”.

Stay blessed always and remember to love someone and mean it.
