ACTS 20:18-38

“To be a committed servant, you must have unquestionable loyalty, and must at all times “THINK” like a servant”.

Many people claim they are committed to serve, but want to serve as “bosses”, not “servants”. Servanthood demands a mental shift, a change in attitude, character and thinking. Through out the scriptures, God has always been interested in WHY we do things more than WHAT we do. “Attitudes count more than achievements”.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus”.( Philippians 2:5 KJV)

King Amaziah lost the favour of God not because he did something wrong, but because his attitude was wrong.

“He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not whole heartedly”. ( 2 Chronicles 25:2 NIV)

True and genuine Christians committed to serve anywhere “forget themselves and focus on others. This is an attitude every servant must posses. It’s called “attitude of humility”, what Paul refers to in Philippians 2:5. True humility is “not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less”. If you sincerely claim you are committed to your church, your ministry, job, business, relationship, family or business, forget yourself long enough to lend a helping hand. This is what it means to “lose your life for your work”; forgetting yourself in service to God and others. Once you are committed to serve, stop “focusing on your needs, only then will you be aware of the needs of others around you”.

The attitude of Jesus was that, He “emptied Himself by taking on the form of a servant”. Dear church “goer”, when was the last time you emptied yourself for someone else’s benefit in the church, workplace or family? You can’t claim to be a committed servant if you are full of yourself; full of pride and arrogance; you can’t serve anywhere if go round “bossing” around.

It is only when you forget yourself, that you do things that deserve to be celebrated; things that can be remembered; things that out live you and cause posterity to remember you.

To be cont..

Stay blessed always and remember to love someone and mean it.
