Liberty Breakfast: By Luke Barson (Rev)-Commitment: (Submission to Authority) Pt. 6

PHILIPIANS 2:3-7

There’s a desperate need for submission to authority, and obedience to God’s word in these turbulent times.

One of the serious flaws about human beings, especially believers is that, we don’t reflect on past events in history. We easily forget that, there have been greater empires before, rich people before, proud and arrogant rulers before, proud and arrogant pastors before; what brought all of them down? Insubordination; disobedience and disloyalty. Apostle Paul warned Titus about people who are not willing to submit. They are idle talkers and deceivers.( Titus 1:10). In the church today, just like in the past those who resist church authority and the word of God are more likely to give to talk. They gossip, criticise, blackmail and backstab. As a believer who yields to the Holy Spirit, beware of those prone to be talkers in the church, and not doers; they don’t only deceive others, but themselves. People who are not submissive can subvert a whole ministry; turning people away from the faith. People who are not submissive are disloyal and disobedient. “They arrogantly do what God says they shouldn’t do”.

It takes a great person to be submissive. Cowards don’t submit.

“But Peter and the apostles answered and said, we must obey ( submit to) God rather than men”. ( Acts 5:29)

Choose to do what is right, whether it is popular or not. Learn to be submissive. It doesn’t matter who leads you. God will find a way to take care of wicked, selfish and greedy leaders and those in authority.

Stay blessed always and remember to love someone and mean it.
