Politician cum Businessman, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong wants president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to expatiate further on his admission that the country is currently faced with some challenges.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament Assin Central Constituency in the Central Region says the president has been candid with the Ghanaian people on the challenges facing the economy, adding that he should have touched on the specifics.

Mr. Agyapong pointed out that even though government is instituting deliberate measures and policies to ameliorate the challenges, communication on the part of the party has not been forthcoming, adding that the generality of the Ghanaian people would appreciate and understand that the situation is not hopeless and that there is light ahead of the tunnel if they kept in the know of what government is doing.

‘’I applaud the president for being candid with the Ghanaian people by admitting that there are some challenges facing the country economically. But he should have explained into detail and expatiate on steps that have been taken to address them. That way, those who listened and read about it would have understood and appreciated government efforts’’

As a way of ensuring effective government communication, the Chairman of the Parliamentary select committee on communication proffered some free consultancy to party saying ‘’all the ministries, departments and agencies should identify NPP communicators who are effective and appraise them of happenings in their respective areas regularly, so that such communicators will run with it. This way Ghanaians will get to know what is happening each step of the way’’

Mr. Agyapong advised Ghanaians to have renewed confidence in the banking sector by returning their monies there and save same in order that help arrest the current challenges, adding that steps taken by government including safeguarding and securing deposits of clients was the best thing that could happen to any customer of any of the collapsed banks.
