Newly elected National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has taken a swipe at the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, saying the social intervention challenge they have thrown to the NDC is misplaced and borne out of ignorance.
According to him, if the NPP and the Vice President were knowledgeable, they would have appreciated the fact that the NDC has no equal in terms of introducing social intervention programmes and policies in the country.
He cited water supply, electricity supply and chips compounds as very critical social intervention policies spearheaded by the NDC.
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo who was speaking in an interview on Asempa FM in Accra said the NDC was the party that came up with the Community Water and Sanitation Agency which main mandate is to provide water for rural communities.
“NDC extended rural power supply to every nook and cranny of this country, so if the NPP tells us about social intervention, they don’t even know what a social intervention is. Social intervention is intervening to ensure that electricity is extended to rural communities” he said.
