Ephesians 4:1-3
In Ghana, people no longer define “tolerance” as an acknowledgement that, others have a differing belief.
In most churches and among individuals, people have rejected the possibility that, “objective truth exists. When people hold on to certain ethical and moral correctness in Ghana, you are branded as intolerant. As believers or individuals, we must hold on to certain ethical principles; one can not just accept anything in the name of “tolerance”. Paul told Timothy;
“Flee the evil desires of youth (and of adults too, emphasis mine) and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of pure heart. Don’t have anything to do with FOOLISH and STUPID arguments, because you know they produce quarrels”. ( 2 Timothy 2:22-23 NIV)
No matter how you see it, tolerance is a good trait. The differences we encounter each day enhances and enriches our lives. But nobody has ever succeeded in life by tolerating everything.You must make a conscious effort to delete, deplete and destroy things that will make you stagnant. Refuse to tolerate things that pull you back. Paul writes;
“I have the right to do anything”, you say-but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything “-but not everything is constructive. ( 1Corinthians 10:23 NIV)
Never tolerate DISHONESTY. Living an honest life allows you to be at peace not just with yourself, but also with others. Dishonesty imposes a false reality on you and the people around. You can survive as a believer among dishonest people. You are the salt and light of the world. Influence them with your honesty. Never tolerate MEDIOCRITY. Don’t just settle for anything. Set higher quality standards for yourself and the organisation. In Ghana, mediocrity is a constant temptation to settle for less. What makes successful people stand out is their willingness to make hard choices that allows a life of greatness. “If you settle for anything, you will be become anything”. Never tolerate NEGATIVITY. Every negative thought keeps you from being your best. If you keep hearing yourself complaining, murmuring, nagging and seeing only the dark side of life, find a way to filter it, else it will shut you down in life permanently.
Never tolerate anybody who thinks nothing good can ever come out of you. You can not climb the ladder of success by seeing only the wrongs in everything and everybody.
