The Northern Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Salisu Be-Awuribe has in a statement warned the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stay clear Dagbon and allow the New Yaa Naa and his elders the space to rule the kingdom.

The statement which was issued yesterday is in reaction to an earlier one issued by the NPP Regional Secretary, Sulley Sambian, thanking President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for restoring peace to the Dagbon Kingdom.

But the NDC has not taken kindly to the words of appreciation by the NPP to the president as they believe the president has done nothing special to merit any praises.

‘’We wish to roundly conderm such unguided, politically amateur and divisive statements coming from the NPP more so in these early days of Dagbong Reunification’’ the statement said.

It continued that ‘’ Mr NPP Regional Secretary. Did you really say “The NDC always used the unfortunate death of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II as major campaign tool in Dagbang and their hope has been dashed.”Well, I needn’t remind you that, the said unfortunate murder of the King and many others did not only shook Dagbong and brought it to its knees, but marked a dark day in the History of Ghana and the world.Don’t remind us of the legendary display of crass incompetence in matters of Security and the NPPs Government complicity never seen in post-colonial AFRICA’’.

RE: NPP NORTHERN REGION THANKS H.E. NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO FOR RESTORATION OF PEACE IN DAGBANG

The attention of the Northern Region  Executives of the great NDC has been drawn to a statement allegedly issued by the NPP Regional Secretary, Sulley Sambian on behalf of the NPP Regional Executives on the above subject matter.

We wish to roundly conderm such unguided, politically amateur and divisive statements coming from the NPP more so in these early days of Dagbong Reunification.

These statements are not only imprudent but smarks of a desperate political party in an unholly haste to cover their sordid footprints of the past. We are Sorry, we can’t join you to swim in your sludge.

Mr NPP Regional Secretary. Did you really say  “The NDC always used the unfortunate death of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II as major campaign tool in Dagbang and their hope has been dashed.”

Well, I needn’t remind you that, the said unfortunate murder of the King and many others did not only shook Dagbong and brought it to its knees, but marked a dark day in the History of Ghana and the world.Don’t remind us of the legendary display of crass incompetence in matters of Security and the NPPs  Government  complicity never seen in post colonial AFRICA.

This was the reign of an NPP Government which had a cabinet led by President Kufour with His Vice Aliu Mahama, a native of Yendi. It also had a Minister of Interior, Alhaji Malik Alhassan Yakubu, who doubled then  as the MP of Yendi, the seat of the Dagbong state and the town which was at the centre of the theatre, A National Security Coordinator and National Security advicer, Gen. Joshua Hamidu and Major Sulemana (now Tolon Gbanglana) respectively, a Minister of Defence who was the direct brother of the then President, JA Kufour, Dr Addo Kufour, and an Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Nana Akuffo Addo, who deliberately or through shear incompetence, prefared unsustainable charges on some suspects leading to technical legal escape. Such are the people desperately trying to wash their sludge. I need not remind you that the said dastardly act occurred under the watch and supervision the current Deputy Foreign Minister under Akuffo Addo and currently the MP of Yendi,  Hon Habib Tijani,  who was then the  chairman of DISEC. Neither will l remind you that the current IGP under Nana Addo, Mr  David Asante Appeatu was the officer assigned to carry out the Criminal investigation of the said incident, which investigation yielded no fruits till date. Indeed, when the NPP won power in the 2000 elections, observers of the Busia-Dankwa tradition  predicted their murderous attitudes and Chieftaincy destabilization. Lo and behold, it came to pass albeit in a magnitude that couldn’t be imagined. So which political party laches on to Chieftaincy politics than the NPP?

As if possessed by “gbeshi”, the NPP continued:

‘They have inundated the social media with  fake pictures of John Mahama in a hearty hug with the current Yaa Naa trying to pass it off as a recent occurrence. For the avoidance of doubt, Mr. Mahama has NOT visited the Yaa Naa since his enskinment. The picture was taken several months ago when Mr. Mahama visited Savelugu constituency campaigning to lead the NDC as their flagbearer.”

What a bundle of contradiction. The NPP is being chased by their own shadows, the reason they seem to have some paranoia on matters of Dagbong Chieftiancy.

Is it not instructive that, they have littered the social media and mounted giant billboards of Nana Addo and His Royal Majesty, Ya Naa Abukari Mahama in a handshake with inscription undeserving of Nana Addo? Obviously we are not ready to take moral lessons from a brothel. Can the NPP sincerely say Nana Addo visited the Ya Naa after his Nomination? Are the pictures on the Billboards not pictures of the Ya Naa when he was still the Yoo Naa during the Mediation Stage? What a pity.

For the Avoidance of Doubts, the current roadmap which has been implemented were drawn under JD Mahamas Presidency. No much  changes. The Traditional Houses, without which the funeral could not have been performed, were all built by President JD Mahama. Nana Addo only inherited a completed and  fully furnished Dagbong peace Architecture. What was left was the commissioning which could have been by any other person. There was therefore no extraordinary effort put in by President Nana Addo on the  Dagbong completed peace Architecture. If he had had any ingenous solutions to Dagbong, he would have profered it long time ago when he was a cabinet minister for 7 out of the 8 years under President Kufour, to which they had 6 long years of aborted settlement of the Dagbong Disputes.

The NPP, knowing their antecedence in Dagbong Chieftaincy Politics,  is therefore adviced to Stay off   Dagbong this time around and allow the Wise King Gariba and His Council of Elders to stir the affairs of Dagbong successfully.

Signed

Hon Salisu Be-Awuribe

NR NDC Secretary.
