YEA more than ready to churn out tailor-made solutions to youth unemployment-Board Chairman

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) stands more than ready to take on the huge responsibility of managing and providing sustainable and tailor-made solutions to addressing youth unemployment situation in Ghana. 

This is the assurance from the Board Chairman of the Agency, Mr. Samuel Awuku during the official launch of the YEA job centre in Accra on Tuesday October 2, 2019.

The YEA job centre encapsulate four key projects of the Agency known as the flagship programmes namely:

The Job Centre

Artisan Directory

The Regional and District Flagship Programs and

Working Abroad

Mr. Awuku opined that the Flagship Projects are aimed at creating employment opportunities and livelihoods from the resources unique and available in the various local communities.

He said the proposed projects will be  regional, district and community specific to ensure local participation and ownership, adding that it is the belief of the Agency that by harnessing  resources at the  community level ,  the local economy will be given a major boost  and  consequently create both direct and indirect forms of employment for the youth within such catchment areas.

According to the Board Chairman, The YEA Job Centre will facilitate and coordinate jobs by way of training and preparing the youth to enable them match up  the  skill requirements of potential employers in Ghana.

‘’This process of facilitation and recruitment  will be done purely based on merit and  devoid of any political interferences. Job seekers  will be given adequate training in soft skills to position them strategically and enable them take advantage of the opportunities that the booming economy under this government provides’’. Mr. Awuku averred.

Mr. Awuku lauded the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for mustering the political will and commitment to deal decisively with youth unemployment in the country, saying ‘’Indeed the YEA has benefited greatly from the generous support and commitment of government at all levels of its operation’’.
