The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that they have mounted a search for Dr Kwabena Duffuor Snr. Founder of collapsed Unibank and former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Asiama for the last three weeks.
Rumour has been rife in sections of the public that the duo are on the run, as they are being sought to help with investigations in the roles they played in the collapse of the Banks, plunging the country into a banking crisis.
BestNewsGH.com sources at the Police Service reports the police as confirming that “Yes, it is true that we invited three of them [for questioning] about three weeks ago. We only have Dr. Duffuor’s son cooperating but the other two [Dr. Duffuor Snr and Dr. Asiama] have not gotten back to us,” the source confirmed.
BestNewsGH.com can confirm that Dr. Duffour Snr. had earlier written to the police, intimating his inability to honour their invitation premised on the fact that he had taken the matter to court and that the police must respect that fact.
The police have said they are unable to tell if Dr. Duffour Snr. is out of the jurisdiction, as his son, Dr. Duffour II says he doesn’t know the whereabouts of his father.
Dr. Asiama on his part had told the police he was out of the jurisdiction and would be back on the 20th of January, 2020 but has since failed to show up.
BestNewsGH.com is informed that the police have tried on several occasions to reach him to no avail.
