Economist and Vice Presidential spokesperson, Dr. Gideon Boako on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 badly exposed the Dean of the University of Cape Coast Business School, Prof. John Gatsi on live Television during a discussion which centred on the economy and the fall of the cedi.

Prof. Gatsi’s submission on Citi TV’s point of View show, that the Cedi had performed poorly against the United States Dollar at One Dollar to 5.7 Ghana Cedis was readily shot down by Dr. Boako who pointed out that the actual figure was 5.5 Ghana Cedis to the Dollar and not 5.7, as espoused by Prof. Gatsi.

Again, Prof. Gatsi was stopped in his tracks when he posited that the Cedi ended the year 2016 at an impressive 3.9 Cedis to the Dollar, a figure Dr. Boako disputed vehemently.

BestNewsGH.com can report that having adduced evidence to prove that the Cedi as at the end of 2016 was 4.2 Ghana Cedis to the Dollar, the vociferous University of Cape Coast Lecturer had to swallow his words and accept the fact that his figures were cooked up.

Dr. Boako, perhaps having realized the deficit in Prof. Gatsi’s appreciation of the economic indicators and figures, seized the opportunity to school him on the performance of the cedi over the last several years.

Dr. Boako detailed the performance of the Cedi, regime by regime and was able to prove to the admiration of show host, Bernard Avle, that indeed the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia led government has not and cannot be equaled by any government in terms of economic management.

With facts, figures and crystal clear empirical evidence, Dr. Boako was able to convince Prof. Gatsi and the Ghanaian people that the current administration has by far, outperformed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as far as the Dollar to Cedi issue was concerned.

Rumour is rife that Prof. Gatsi’s reecent penchant for jumping to the defense of the NDC particularly on matters concerning the economy, emanates from his ambition to be appointed the running mate to the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama for the 2020 election.

It is therefore believed that his recent frolicking at radio and television stations on behalf of the NDC is aimed at solidifying his position and to market himself for the position of running mate.
