The hardworking and charismatic National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku was the toast guests during the final funeral rites of late NPP stalwart, CK Tedam at Paga in the Upper East Region.
Mr. Awuku exhibited exemplary leadership when he rolled up his sleeves and took to carrying and arranging chairs at the venue for the event, to amazement of all who were present.
The affable NPP National Organiser who is also the Board Chairman of the Youth Employment Agency has been hailed as one of the best young political leaders in Ghana and beyond.
He has earned the respect of not only folks in his party, but those in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who have openly stated their admiration for him.
Just recently, a leading member of the NDC, Dela Cofie described Mr. Awuku as outperforming his counterpart in the NDC in terms of strategy and organizational acumen.
Mr. Cofie went further to say that Mr. Awuku was making the NPP very attractive and appealing to the youth.
CK Tedam
The Hon. C.K Tedam who until his death was the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the NPP, died on April 25, 2019 at his home in Accra after a short illness.
The 94-year-old for Council of State member was among the early political torchbearers from the then Northern Territories.
- K. Tedam first won election to parliament as an independent candidate in 1954. He was a founding member of the Northern People’s Party. He stood and won another election to parliament in 1956 on the ticket of the Northern People’s Party, NPP. He also served as a Minister of Local Government during the regime of the Supreme Military Council (Ghana).
