The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) spent a total of two million and ninety seven dollars to rent an office accommodation for the Ghana Gas Company over a 7 year period.
An annual rent of 297 thousand dollars was paid for the building for seven years according the Member of Parliament for the Assin Central Constituency in the Central Region, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
The vociferous politician cum businessman revealed that the NDC also parted with 10 Million Ghana Cedis every month to Chinese engineers who were manning the Ghana Gas plant.
Describing the trend as a total rip-off, Mr. Agyepong said the current management of the company should be applauded for instituting prudent management practices that has restored the company back onto the path of profitability.
He said it took the current management of the company to purchase an office for it at 11 Million dollars within the Dzorwulu enclave.
“As we speak now, under the current Chief Executive Officer, Ben Asante, all the Chinese engineers are gone. The plants are being manned by Ghanaian engineers and that is what we call efficient management of state institutions. We must tell Ghanaians the good things we are doing as a government. We are doing extremely great things but we don’t hype them and that gives the opposition the opportunity to come at us” he said on Accra based Asempa Fm.
