Minister for information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says opponents of the Nation Builders Corps programme, particularly the opposition National Democratic (NDC) having realized the programme has taken shape and working have gone mute over its success.

According to him, the stiff opposition and the huge criticism and ridicule that greeted the announcement and subsequent implementation of the NABco initiative by the opposition NDC were misplaced and aimed at distracting government from its focus of creating employment for the Ghanaian people.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah who was speaking on an Accra based local radio station noted that the implementation of the programme has been seamless, with the various beneficiaries working to the satisfaction of their bosses in the agencies they have been placed.

‘’It was in this year that we used one day to begin the process of solving one of the biggest challenges we have in the country, unemployment. We all converged at the independence square one early morning and we assembled a 100 thousand youths and inaugurated them into the NABCo initiative’’ he said.

He continued ‘’many were those who described the initiative as a senseless thing which will not solve the unemployment situation in the country. They said we couldn’t raise cash to sustain it and so on, but by the grace of God it is working well and we are  having the follow up discussions as to how it is panning out and the results are awesome’’ he added.
