Revelations by the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo that they transported party vigilante youth Azorka boys from Tamale to Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency for the January 31, 2019 by-election has shocked many Ghanaians to the core.

In audio tapes that has since gone viral, the NDC National Chairman is heard making several revelations on the party’s strategy going into the by-election which included targeting a particular group and making life unbearable for them.

In what is said to be a meeting of party executives in which they were having what can easily be termed a post-Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election discussion, Mr. Ampofo is heard mentioning the fact that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) transported a group known as the Kandahar boys who are affiliated to it and how they (NDC) also brought in the Azorka boys.

He said the zorka boys begun to run away from the Kandahar boys when they spotted them because they knew them and that they were all from Tamale.

Mr. Ampofo, an elder of the Pentecost Church was also heard inciting NDC members and supporters against the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Professor Emmanuel Asante, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Jean Mensa and president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo among other high profile figures in the country.

This has taken many people by surprise given the fact that the NDC has been at the forefront of shouting on the rooftops and claiming injustice against them among others.

There are calls that the audio tapes should be submitted to the Emile Short Commission and Mr. Ofosu Ampofo invited to answer for the content of the tapes.
