National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Sammi Awuku has taken a dig at aspirants of the party who are facing challenges in accessing nomination forms or any difficulties and who refuse to use internal party structures and mechanisms, but resort to the media.

According to him, such aggrieved aspirants must endeavor to exhaust all internal party procedures in resolving whatever grievances they have.

Mr. Awuku said the Party is very careful in managing the selection and election of parliamentary candidates as there are so many dynamics and factors involved, saying ‘’you can’t be a Pentecost elder and say you want to contest for the position of Nasara Coordinator.

BestNewsGH.com confirms Mr. Awuku as positing that ‘’It is true that as a political party we are looking for the numbers, we’re also very strategic to ensure that we select the best candidates and people for the parliamentary primaries. The process of coming up with parliamentary candidates can be through election or selection and the party must take strategic decisions that protects the seat and improves our votes.’’

His comments come on the back of media reports about the inability of one-time NPP presidential aspirant, Mr. Addai Nimo to access parliamentary nomination forms to contest the upcoming primaries.

According Mr. Addai Nimo, who petitioned the  Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP to be allowed to purchase the forms at the Regional level, he has been denied access to the forms by the Mampong Constituency executives.

Speaking on Accra based Peace Fm and monitored by BestNewsGH.com, Mr. Awuku said the party’s internal mechanisms for such grievances provides for aggrieved persons to begin with the constituency, move to the regional and national levels, failure to get justice, then they can resort to their own antics such as going public or speaking to the media.

BestNewsGH.com reports Mr. Awuku as positing that out of the 275 constituencies, only three of them have recorded such incidents as aspirant’s inability to access nomination forms.

He said, the party, democratic as it is, will not thwart efforts of legitimate people who’s are seeking to lead it in the various constituencies.

Mr. Awuku however warned that constituency executives will not sit aloof and allow persons who are aware they are not qualified to contest for particular positions to hold the party to ransom.
