The National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Sammi Awuku has entreated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hold and interrogate the officer who quoted the 16 Million dollar price tag on the building that was being bought in Oslo, Norway to be used as Ghana’s chancery in that country.

According to him, it is obvious that the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botwey was misled by the technocrats in the Ministry who worked on the document.

Speaking on Accra based Asempa Fm, Tuesday December 18, 2018, Mr. Awuku who is also the Board Chairman of the Youth Employment Agency, noted that politicians are mostly blamed for crimes they sometimes know nothing about due to the activities of technocrats and other officials at the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MMDA’s).

“The Ministry should hold the person who worked on the document and quoted the price for serious interrogation because the fellow has misled the Minister and had the potential of embarrassing the government if payment had been made” he argued.

Mr. Awuku said this particular incident should serve as a wake up for politicians to be wary of the technocrats and officers they work with at the various MMDA’s, adding that they must always endeavor to scrutinize every deal and document that is brought before them before approving same.
