Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of trying hard to create disaffection for the current government and the party by speculating that the embattled Chief Executive Officer of gold trading firm Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah is a member of the ruling NPP.

According to him, the modus operandi of the opposition NDC is to make political capital out of the current crisis facing the company and are doing everything possible to win the aggrieved customers of the company to their side.

Nana Obiri Boahen who was speaking on an Accra based radio station and monitored by BestNewsGH.com said the substance of the issue at hand is not which political party the Menzgold boss belongs to, but how to ensure that the customers retrieve their locked up investments from the company.

According to him, government is doing all it can to ensure that the matter is dealt with within the confines of the law, adding that government has stepped up to the plate and will ensure that the full force of the law is let loose on all the culprits.

Yesterday, January 9, 2019, government through the Ghana Police Service secured a bench warrant from the Supreme Court for the arrest of Nana Appiah Mensah and directors of the company.

The Criminal Investigations Department said it was collaborating with Interpol to arrest NAM1 irrespective of which part of the world he currently is.
