Ghana’s leading mobile telecommunications company, MTN Ghana has shown love to children born on Christmas day at the Tarkwa government hospital in the Western Region.
It has been a culture for the company to distribute hampers to newly borns every year on Christmas day and this is done in all the regions across the country.
Mohammed Yakubu Tinuyiba, the acting senior Manager for South West business of MTN Ghana who led the delegation to distribute this year’s Christmas hampers to the mothers of the babies speaking during the presentation said ‘’this gesture is also in line with our one pillar that we use in supporting health. We also donate blood to hospitals, especially on February 14 (Valentine’s Day)’’.
According to him, the company will be at the Tarkwa government hospital in February next year to embark on the blood donation exercise to help provide relief to patients whose cases require blood transfusion.
Mr. Yakubu Tinuyiba said the company was delighted to put smiles on the faces of the newly borns and their mothers, adding that it was the company’s way of giving back to society.
A senior staff midwife at the hospital, Kpebitey Melody who received the MTN team expressed their appreciation to the company on behalf of the beneficiaries and called for more support for the facility.
According to her, it is the expectation of the hospital that the company would take time to come again and listen to their needs and help in that regard.
