Menzgold used obsolete UK laws and clauses to deceive customers in Ghana to sign their contracts-Ace Ankomah

Renowned legal practitioner, Ace Ankomah has revealed that the laws and clauses captured in the contract forms that were signed customers of gold trading firm, Menzgold were not Ghanaian laws or clauses, but from the United Kingdom.

According to him, the Drug Trafficking Offences Act of 1986 is a UK Act which was repealed as far back as 1994 and has no relevance whatsoever to gold trading or Ghana.

Mr. Ankomah who took to social media to educate the public on the flawed and foreign laws used by the distressed company in its contract forms wrote ‘’ the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1989 was one of the Prevention of Terrorism Acts of the United Kingdom related to the troubles in Northern Ireland. It was repealed in 2000. No application or relevance to gold trading or Ghana’’.

Dear Menzgolders, so when you saw this clause in the contract you signed, it gave you confidence paaaah, ehn? You felt these laws would protect you.

Well, none of these be Ghana law o. So let’s try and find them.

Hehehehe.

  1. Drug Trafficking Offences Act 1986 is a UK Act that was repealed in 1994. No application or relevance to gold trading or Ghana.
  2. The Criminal Act 1988 doesn’t exist. Probably a reference to the UK’s Criminal JUSTICE Act 1988, which was passed to do plenty things in the UK including to regulate criminal proceedings. No application or relevance to gold trading or Ghana.
  3. The Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1989 was one of the Prevention of Terrorism Acts of the United Kingdom related to the troubles in Northern Ireland. It was repealed in 2000. No application or relevance to gold trading or Ghana.
  4. Criminal Justice (International Co-operation) Act 1990 was passed to enable the UK co-operate with other countries in criminal proceedings and investigations implementing the Vienna Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances; and to provide for the seizure, detention and forfeiture of drug trafficking money imported or exported in cash. No application or relevance to gold trading or Ghana.
  5. The Criminal Justice Act 1993 is a United Kingdom Act of Parliament that set out new rules regarding drug trafficking, proceeds and profit of crime, financing of terrorism and insider dealing. No application or relevance to gold trading or Ghana.
  6. The Money Laundering Regulations 1993 contains measures taken by the UK to implement the EC Directive on Money Laundering. No application or relevance to gold trading or Ghana.
  7. The Patriot Act 2001 was passed by the US “Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism”. No application or relevance to gold trading or Ghana.
