Liberty Breakfast: By Luke Barson (Rev)-Commitment: (Submission to Authority) Pt. 5

When I was a kid, I used to follow my mom to fetch “fire wood”, and sometimes, pick shea nuts in the bush. Holding my hands was one way she could help me catch up with her pace. Just like me, I know it’s something most kids do not like.

As kids, we do not understand how dangerous it is to be left alone behind, and how frustrating it is for our parents to keep “marking time” whenever they are going somewhere. For those of you who are privileged to own cars, you’ve probably experienced the struggle of trying to keep your toddlers buckled up in their seats for hours unend. They don’t understand that, the seat belt restraints are keeping them safe, and that ultimately, your constant yelling at them is because you love them, want them to live and not die should the inevitable happen. Kids obviously have no idea parents know what is best for them. Most believers in the church today are like kids. They try to cut off every restraint placed on them by the LOVING hand of God. They are not willing to submit, not just to church leadership, but also to God. Many believers have rejected God’s authority, by rejecting church leadership.

“Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His anointed, saying; “Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us”.( Psalm 2:1-3 NKJV)

“People who are not committed to submit are disloyal people; and any disloyal person is a dangerous person”. It is sad, to see believers who have been in church over six years and still carry offenses and unforgiveness. “Hurting people find it difficult to submit”.

“A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city; and their contentions are like the bars of a castle”. (Proverbs 18:19)

When you carry an offense, your level of devotion and commitment to authority is likely to drop drastically. Hurting people hurt; hurting people can not love, and can’t obey. As hurting people hurt, offended people spread offence. Some people have “an independent spirit” in the church, so they don’t feel they should submit to anyone.

To be cont…

Stay blessed always and remember to love someone and mean it.
