LUKE 9:62
The greatest problem facing spiritually minded believers today is that, while lip service is given to God, many are not TRULY committed to Him.
“These people honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me”.( Matthew 15:8)
This lack of commitment is seen in a variety of ways. “No growth in their prayer life, no growth in their midweek ( Berean service) attendance, no growth in their GIVING, easily discouraged spiritually and no commitment to be humble before the Lord. The modern day Christian see more important things than God. You want to know? Let the preacher delay the service; look at the reaction on their faces, including pastors and leaders who are in hurry to go home and do NOTHING, except to watch soccer or other entertainment. If believers truly want to get things done in the house of God, build a morally upright society and be heavenly minded, then they must all be COMMITTED not only to God, but also the things of God. I have realised that, too many people have just become church “goers”. They are INVOLVED in church activities, but not committed. Our inability to be truly committed is what is causing the mess in the system in the church, and jeopardising our spiritual journey. Many young believers are simply copying the “denominational” world. In the “denominational” world, commitment means getting involved in some social action, marching in the streets against government, demonstrating against civil leadership, using pseudo names on social media to insult etc..that’s how ordinary people see commitment. To the believer, commitment is delivering the “Will” of the father (God). Jesus lived a committed life.
“So then, those who suffer according to God’s WILL should COMMIT themselves to their faithful creator and continue to do good”.( 1 Peter 4:19)
One of the reasons many Christians are not committed to God is because, they are not CONVICTED by the Holy Spirit in the first place. A lot of people go to church these days chasing after signs, wonders and miracles. They have no idea why they are in church, except for the miracles…
