Liberty Breakfast: By Luke Barson (Rev )-“Character of The Believer” Pt. 4

2 PETER 1:5-6

The fact I have been trying to establish since Monday is that, Character is a spiritual fruit that is built from a real, godly relationship and commitment to Christ.

It is the fiber of our moral centre and stretches throughout our being, embracing and binding together our relationships, as a community, family, nation, church or even as individuals when it is sealed as a CHOICE and COMMITMENT, and not just a feeling or personality. I have heard believers, some of whom are preachers, say,”this is the way I am”, this is my character, take me like that”. No! No! We can’t take you like that if your character is not peaceful, loving, kind and humble. You must begin to evaluate yourself. Ask yourself some questions and try to answer them. Be as honest as possible. Why is everyone avoiding you ? Why is everyone saying you are arrogant? Why are you not at peace with almost everyone; in the office, in your family, in your department?

As believers, our “character” synergistically combines with the Fruit of The Spirit and the character of Christ to promote our ability to relate and grow in our relations; to better others as well as ourselves. If your character is all about you alone; all about your happiness to the detriment of others, “you are still a baby Christian”, you are greedy and selfish. You need to grow up. “Jesus must increase, and we must decrease”. ( John 3:29-30), if as a believer you refuse this vital call, you will have a hard time serving Him and others.

If your character is too stiff, God may just allow some hardships to come your way, to break you down, so you can yield as His child and grow. CHECK YOUR CHARACTER, not the people around you. The problem may be you, not them.

To be cont..

Stay blessed always and remember to love someone and mean it.
