2 PETER 1:5-6 ( NIV)
“FOR THIS VERY REASON, MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ADD TO YOUR FAITH GOODNESS; AND TO GOODNESS, KNOWLEDGE; AND TO KNOWLEDGE, SELF-CONTROL..
It is said that; charisma, gift or talent will take one to a place, but CHARACTER will keep you there”. “Character is what you are in the dark” ( D. L Moody) “A collection of personality traits within our behaviour that shows who we are”, that’s character.
This is shown in ones integrity, attitude, moral fiber and disposition; this shapes how we treat one another; good or bad. Character is who you are. Character can be learned or built in Christ Jesus. The believer’s real authentic character is not just a personality or disposition; it is a description of who we are as Christians, and what we are called to be. The believer’s character is seen in the fruits he or she bears; “God’s love and His work in us”.
“But fruits of the Spirit ( Believer’s character) is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, Against such things there is no law”. ( Galatians 5:22-23 NIV)
A good effectual foundation of fruits of the Spirit ( Character) are “synergistic”; it means each of the fruits of the Spirit hangs and functions with each other. The believer’s character summarises the essence of our walk with Christ. As believers, we can not bear the fruit of love and hate, peace and vice versa.
Good character in Christ can not be over emphasised. A believer’s character can grow or shrink as our growth and faith in Christ is applied or blocked. Your character, as a believer is the signage that shows your life as a Christian; at home, office, in the dark, light, private or public.
