LUKE 17:14-18
One of the most difficult things to do in life is dealing with ungrateful people. It is frustrating and disappointing, but it’s something we all have to confront from time to time; Whether the person is a difficult customer, a greedy boss, a selfish wife or husband, an unappreciative friend or a CARNAL Christian.
As a Christian, “you may not always be able to make an ungrateful person more appreciative, but you can always show others how you manage such ungrateful people by continually expressing GRATITUDE to God and others”.
“Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever more”.(Psalm 106:1)
In my line of duty, one of the reasons I have come across why people don’t show gratitude is IGNORANCE. Many people were never taught to appreciate others, and to express gratitude and appreciation for the “little things” others do for them. They may be believers, filled with the Holy Spirit, but they will still murmur, complain and criticise God for what He has done for them and even ignore the various roles others have played in their lives. Very few parents teach their children to show gratitude.
Many people who are also full of PRIDE will never show gratitude. They are prideful because, they think they have earned all the things they have received. They see themselves as “I worked hard to get this job”. “I raised my kids all by myself to be good”. “I studied hard for these grades”. I guess you have heard such statements over and over; or you are probably one of those who make such statements. And in their empty PRIDE and ego, they forget God; they even don’t think to say; “Thank You Lord For Your Grace To Accomplish This Task”. People give a pat on the back and forget that, it is the Lord who blesses”.
“In his pride, the wicked does not seek God; in all his thoughts there is no room for Him” (Psalm 10:4 NIV).
Remember; “Every perfect and good gift comes from the Lord”. If ordinary people don’t know this, not you as a believer. The kind of people around you determines whether you are a grateful person or not. “Bad company corrupts good character”. (1Corinthians 15:33). Some people are ungrateful because of the people they hang around. “Ungrateful negative people”. People who are greedy and selfish will soon infect you. Greed is contagious, so are negative people and pessimists. The time we spend with negative ungrateful people will influence us if we don’t take care. I have personally made a commitment NOT to walk with ungrateful people.
When you continually walk with people who constantly show ingratitude, they turn your happy moments into bitter times.
