The Board of the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority has inspected ongoing works at the Kpone Unity Terminal.
So far, works on the new devanning terminal of the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority is on schedule and progressing steadily.
The terminal sits on a 40 acre land space and is twice the size of the Golden Jubilee Terminal in Tema Port.
When completed, activities at the Golden Jubilee Terminal would be transferred to the new terminal.
According to Komla Ofori, Projects Engineer of the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority, the new devanning yard, which is expected to be ready in June 2020, was modeled in the plan of the Golden Jubilee terminal and is expected to relieve the Golden Jubilee Terminal of potential congestion.
“This is the Kpone Unity terminal that has the design concept of what golden jubilee is doing.”
He said, the Kpone Unity Terminal, aside the devanning yard, has adequate space for a car park, an administration block which is also being constructed, as well as a sitting area and restaurant for clients and workers.
