Information Minister-Designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has said the team from government that called on the chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in the wee hours of Monday October 29, 2018 did so voluntarily to plead with him to continue from where they left off in their quest to resolve the impasse.

‘’I was present when the national security Minister called him and we visited him early Monday morning and so if anyone wants to twist the facts and make it look as though we were summoned there, it is incorrect and I will not lie to you on radio’’ he told host of Eko sii sen on Asempa Fm in Accra.

According to Ofoase/Ayirebi legislator, the team upon arrival pleaded with the revered Chancellor to take over the issue and help resolve it at his level, since he was the one legally clothed with the authority to initiate steps to get the issue addressed once and for all.

‘’We told him that under the emergency provisions we took the matter to this level and we had to go on that trajectory at the spur of the moment because you were not around. But with all due respect, now that you have returned we came to beg you to lead the charge for the reconstitution of the University council because you are the one clothed with that power. So kindly help us reconstitute the council so that all the measures we have taken, the full breadth of emergency measures we have taken to ensure that nobody dies or that nobody goes to burn any property among others, you hand over all such measures to the new council’’ he said.

The minister said the engagement with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II concluded with the understanding that by Friday October 2, 2018, the new council would have been constituted so that anyone whose representative is on the council would furnish him a new name to be added.
