The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has with immediate effect withdrawn its patronage of Accra based City TV, vowing not to appear on the station’s morning political talkshow programme, citing gross disrespect to one of its communications team members.

A statement issued by the NDC and signed by its National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi read in part that ‘’ This decision has been occasioned by the gross disrespect the station showed to the NDC’s representative who was billed to appear on that  programme yesterday morning. In line with the party’s new panel placement policy, the party upon the approval of producers of the show, sent Hon. Ambrose Amoah Ashyia ( Former DCE for Upper Denkyira West) to represent the NDC on Citi TV yesterday morning. The NDC’s rep duly arrived at the station and went through make-up and all pre-arrangements to get him seated for the programme. However, in a bizarre turn of events, the NPP’s rep, Hon. Dr. Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah (MP for Kwadaso) who arrived after 8:00am, which was the start time for the programme, requested that he was unwilling to debate the NDC’s rep on the programme. To our shock and disbelief, the station duly obliged to this request and withdrew the NDC’s rep for the programme, and subsequently replaced him with a known NPP staff of Citi TV, hence reducing the panel to an all-NPP affair’’.

ATTENTION: ALL NDC COMMUNICATORS, OFFICIALS AND MEMBERS.

This is to inform all NDC Communicators, members, officials and the general public that effective today, Wednesday, 17th January, 2019, the NDC has boycotted Citi TV’s morning Political programme.

This decision has been occasioned by the gross disrespect the station showed to the NDC’s representative who was billed to appear on that  programme yesterday morning.

To our shock and disbelief, the station duly obliged to this request and withdrew the NDC’s rep for the programme, and subsequently replaced him with a known NPP staff of Citi TV, hence reducing the panel to an all-NPP affair.

It is important to state that as at Tuesday, the producer of the programme, Musah Anas Seidu had confirmed that our rep was welcome on the show. However, all efforts to get the station to rescind its draconian and strange decision yesterday morning proved futile, neither was the NDC given any opportunity to replace our rep.

As a result and in protest to this gross show of disrespect by Citi TV towards the NDC, the party hereby directs that effective today and until further notice, all Communicators are to abstain from participating in Citi TV’s morning political talkshow program.

Please take note and observe accordingly.
