Health care workers in Belgium turn their backs on prime minister in protest over poor handling of COVID-19

Health Care workers in Belgium are angry with the country’s Prime Minister, Sophie Wilmes for her government’s poor handling of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Euronews.com reports that the health care workers turned their backs on the Prime Minister as her convoy arrived at a hospital in the country’s capital, Brussels.

BestNewsGH.com can report that medical and non-medical staff lined up on the road leading to the Hospital Saint-Pierre, turning their backs as the Prime Minister’s convoy passed.

Ms. Wilmes’ government has faced criticism over its handling of the coronavirus pandemic, with Belgium currently reporting the highest deaths per capita out of any country.

More than 9,000 people have died, in a country with a population of 11.5 million.

There have also been ongoing disagreements between nurses and the government, with nurses demanding more recognition within the healthcare industry.
