The Accra Metropolitan Assembly has issued a health alert that there will be heaps of uncollected waste in parts of the city as a result of the refusal of Zoomlion drivers to report for duty.

A statement issued by the Assembly a while ago and intercepted by BestNewsGH.com said the drivers withdrew their service this morning without any official notice to the Assembly.

“In view of the situation, there will be uncollected solid waste at various locations across the city. The Assembly has therefore deployed tipper trucks to collect all heaps as a temporal measure to manage the situation” the statement said.

Signed by the Head of Public Relations at the Assembly, the statement assured that steps are being taken to ameliorate the situation.
