The Executive Director of the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mensah Thompson has chided Members of Parliament on the Majority side for passing the drones for medical deliveries deal.
In his estimation, they don’t deserve to be called ‘honourable’ since there was nothing honourable about passing that deal.
According to him, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament should have stopped the deal and point out to government that it was a bad deal that must not be passed.
Mr. Mensah who said he was in parliament when the motion for the deal was tabled said ‘’I have never been this embarrassed, not a single Member of Parliament from the Majority side could have the balls to rise up and say “No Mr. Speaker, this deal does not pass the value for Money test or the Cost benefit analysis test or cost utility test. I watch the faces of these “dishonorable” MP’s as they sunk the Public purse further into dubious wasteful transactions with absolutely no conscience’’.
According to him, elsewhere in the UK and the US, Congressmen and MP’s are able to rise against their government reject deals they deem inappropriate for the country.
‘’We have seen Congressmen and Senate Members from the Republican party in the US come strongly against Trump on a number of Policies and issues. We recently saw how MP’s from Theresa May’s own party shredded the Brexit deal she presented to the UK Parliament and asked her to go to Brussels and get a better deal from the EU, a situation which almost cost her seat as Prime Minister ‘’ he said.

$12.5MILLION DRONES DEAL APPROVAL,MAJORITY MP’S MUST BE STRIPPED OFF THEIR “HONORABLE” TITLE
I sat in the Public gallery of Parliament a few days ago during the debate for the controversial Zip-line drones deal when the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Joe Osei Wusu put the motion to a vote.
To my surprise all 106 Majority MP’s present in the house voted in favour of this rather “useless” deal whilst all 58 MP’s from the Minority dissenting.
I have never been this embarrassed,Not a single Member of Parliament from the Majority side could have the balls to rise up and say “No Mr.Speaker,this deal does not pass the value for Money test or the Cost benefit analysis test or cost utility test”
I watch the faces of these “dishonorable” MP’s as they sunk the Public purse further into dubious wasteful transactions with absolutely no conscience!!!
We have all manner of people in Parliament with various Professional backgrounds…doctors, lawyers, teachers, bankers, financial advisors, economists, engineers etc but in all these numerous expertise we could not find one Member of Parliament from the Majority side rise up and raise critical issues about the deal on the benefits of their professional training or experience as they all dumbly accented to the deal and anything that came from the Executive…
Then we should as well dissolve Parliament, there is no point joining queues to vote for members of Parliament when they cannot use their brains in the legislative assembly.
I sat down in Parliament and saw my Member of Parliament Vote for such a useless agreement which even a market woman would have shredded into pieces yet he holds a Phd, ridiculous isn’t it???

Yet we have pot bellied MPs sit in the house and approve anything their Party brings to the house as if they have no minds of their own.
And you know the irony is that, Congressmen and MP’s in the US and UK don’t call themselves Honorables….
Pardon my apparent lack of tact in this situation but at this point No member of Parliament from the Majority side deserves to be called “Honorable” they all dishonorable fellows serving their Political party not their constituents….perhaps some members of the Minority as well.
I dont know about you but i am never calling any of those people Honorable again,they have done nothing to be honored, none of their actions is honorable enough to warrant that title.
But you see this happened under the previous NDC government as well and perhaps any other government under the fourth Republic and i get worried because you see in all these tussle between the NDC and NPP in Parliament, in all these extreme partisanship being practiced in Parliament, where lies the interest of masses, where lies the interest of the State?
If we cannot look beyond party lines and address issues based on our needs as a country even in Parliament then how can we develop, then we should as well shut Parliament down because once a government wins majority in the house(which is the most likely situation) then everything becomes a walk in the park, even stealing from the State!!!
So sad my brothers and sisters….the tears we shed for this country, our motherland
