Finding Kyeremanteng Agyarko’s replacement: we are taking time to find a consensus candidate-Sammi Awuku

The National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku has said the party is taking time and is on the ground to uncover and project a consensus candidate to replace the late Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko.

According to him, officials of the party including himself, the General Secretary and the Director of elections have been on the grounds in the constituency and picking information on who will be better suited to replace the late MP.

Mr. Awuku said the by-election will be prosecuted by the national party and that there may not be enough leeway to go through all the internal processes such opening of nominations and conducting primaries among others due to time constraints, hence the resolve of the party leadership to arrive at a consensus candidate.

According to him, the party will not be swayed by the aggressive social media campaigns being waged by various interested candidates.

Mr. Awuku who was speaking on Accra based okay Fm said the party was in touch with the family of the late Member of Parliament to see to a very befitting burial for the fallen MP who he described as a hardworking-people-centered man who did great exploits for the party and Ghana.

He is therefore urging restraint on the part of the various interested persons who are vigorously engaged in various forms of machinations and mafia tactics on social media in the quest to attract the attention of the national party.

‘’The National party has moved beyond social media campaigns at this juncture and we are on the ground surfing for a consensus candidate. Those who are aggressively campaigning on social media and imploring all forms of mafia tactics to outwit each other must desist from such acts’’ he said.
