Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammi Awuku has indicated that the party’s national leadership will not kowtow to pressure in the quest to find a suitable replacement for the fallen Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko.

According to him, the party leadership has been to the ground in the constituency and engaged all the stakeholders including constituency executives, polling station chairmen and electoral are coordinators among others, on the way forward.

Speaking on Accra based okay Fm and monitored by BestNewsGH.com, Mr. Awuku opined that the plan and strategy is to arrive at a consensus candidate, explaining that the national leadership cannot be stampeded into taking any decision that will not inure to the benefit of the party or that will ruin the chances of the party retaining the seat.

Reacting to calls by some irate party supporters and polling station executives for the party to consider the widows of the late MP, Mr. Awuku pointed out that none of the two women whose supporters are busily lobbying for them have indicated their intention to contest the seat yet.

He noted that the national party headquarters has been clothed with the mandate to surf through and find a suitable candidate for the by-election, adding that they were currently busy doing that.

Mr. Awuku urged calm within the agitating camps, explaining that they are all important stakeholders whose inputs will be taken when a decision is being arrived at.
