The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stressed the importance of building codes for every country, explaining that they offer value for money by providing a yardstick against which all construction- related procurement can be measured.
According to him, the comprehensive Ghana building code (Ghana Standards GS1207: 2018) will be a game changer as far as ensuring value for money in public construction is concerned.
Dr Bawumia commended the Ministries of Works and Housing, Trade and Industry, the Ghana Standards Authority, the Ghana Institution of Engineers, Surveyors and Institute of Architects.
He also commended the Building and Road Research Institute for their collaborative efforts in producing the comprehensive building code for Ghana.
