Founder and Secretary-General of pressure group, Alliance for New Register (ANR), Mr. Razak Kojo Opoku is convinced that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is subtly preparing the grounds for an election petition in the law courts after the 2020 elections.
According to him, the fierce resistance being championed by the NDC against the compilation of a new voters register for the 2020 elections is a ploy to make a case for a dispute after the elections.
BestNewsGH.com reports Mr. Razak Kojo Opoku as saying the NDC seems to have taken a cue from president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s 2012 election petition and wants to take advantage of it after the 2020 elections, when it loses.
Mr. KoJo Opoku who was addressing the media during a press conference to rally support for the Electoral Commission on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in Accra, said the NDC has not advanced any superior arguments or alternatives to the solid case tabled by the EC and must be disregarded by the generality of the Ghanaian people.
He said instead of wasting time and resources on organizing demonstrations against the impending compilation of the new register, the NDC should Marshall it’s strength in identifying and coming up with a message that will sell and help it in the elections.
According to him, what the NDC should be concerned about is how to close the over 1 million vote deficit it currently has.
