Don’t take instructions from any superior officer-Prof. Adei to Customs officers at Tema Port

The Board Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Prof. Stephen Adei has instructed Customs Officers at the Port of Tema not to take instructions from senior officers of other state agencies also operating in the port.

Any such instructions, according to him, should be ignored and immediately reported to the Sector Commander of Customs.

A Memo under the hand of the Sector Commander of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority for the Tema Port, Joseph Adu-Kyei and addressed to Terminal Heads and Examination Officers read in part that ‘’All schedule officers are strictly required not to take instructions from any superior officer of other state Agencies in the clearing of goods at the Tema Port. All such instructions in the form of ‘Order from Above’’ should be ignored and immediately reported to the sector commander through the Commissioner, Customs Division to the Board Chairman’’.

The statement also clarified that officers are to ignore only when the instruction is to influence them to do the wrong thing.
