The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has lampooned government for the dissolution of the Governing Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), saying the move smacks of political interference.

A statement issued by UTAG and signed by Professor Eric K. Furkuo, President of the KNUST branch of UTAG said in part ‘’ We do not believe that the action taken by Government is the best way to resolve the issue as it frowns on the autonomy of the University and smacks of political interference.’’

The statement further said failure by government to reverse the decision and allow laid down procedures to work, will see the Association advice itself with immediate effect.
