The Accra suburban railway system will largely be passenger rail transport services of length 250km that will operate between the city centre, Tema and other outlying suburbs that draw large numbers of people who travel on a daily basis.
The development of the Accra suburban railway network will be linked with the planning and redevelopment of a new Accra city urban master plan.
The Accra lines will have a combination of surface, underground and overhead rail lines across the city.
