Chinese Construction Company operating in Ghana, Hunan Construction Engineering Group (HNCEG) has supported Government of Ghana’s efforts towards the fight against the deadly Covid-19 pandemic with a total of 32,000 PPEs.
The donation, which was presented on Monday, 27th April, 2020 at the premises of the Ghana Health Services (GHS) Head Office includes 20,000 surgical gloves, 10,000 face masks, and 2000 N95 face masks.
The donation was made on behalf of Hunan Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. by Tan Lin, General Manager of Ghana Branch, Li Guoqiang, Deputy Manager-Ghana and Simon Aydin, representative for Ghana. Presenting the items to the Director General of the Ghana Health Services, Mr. Tan Lin, said their gesture is in support of the many significant efforts put up by President Akufo-Addo in the fight against the pandemic.
“We are very much aware of the bold, decisive and successful approaches adopted by President Nana Addo and as a responsible company we feel obliged to contribute our widow’s mite”, he stated.
“These items are direct donations from the parent company in China and we carry the warm greetings from our Chairman and the entire management of Hunan Constructions Company Limited from China. We are still in talks with government and we are planning to donate more items, including protective gowns, overalls and testing kits”, said Mr. Tan Lin.
Receiving the items on behalf of government, the Director General of the Ghana Health Services, Dr. Patrick Aboagye thanked the company and expressed the appreciation of government.
“We are very much grateful to you for the timely gesture. What is important in this donation is that two items – the N95 face masks and surgical hand gloves are items we do not locally manufacture in Ghana. They will truly help us,” Dr. Aboagye indicated.
