President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has directed the country’s military to carry out air strikes against bandits, kidnappers and cattle rustlers in the Niger state.
Gunmen on Saturday January 25, 2020, killed some 11 people and kidnapped four women during what has been described as door-to-door attacks.
Sahara Reporters and The Daily Sun which first reported the president’s order, said the president viewed the repeated attacks as a disaster.
BestNewsGH.com is informed that President Buhari said the air raids “remain the best approach given the lack of motorised roads in the areas constantly under attack”.
The air strikes will compliment the work of troops who are already deployed on the ground.
BestNewsGH.com can report that the Nigerian air force is already establishing refuelling facilities at Minna, the state’s capital, to support the operations.
Saturday’s attacks come on the back of an earlier one this month, during which gunmen killed six people, injured five and kidnapped others in the neighbouring Kaduna state.
