Brazil: Authorities seize 16 million dollars cash from Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President’s entourage

A delegation led by the Vice President of Equatorial Guinea, Theodorin Nguema Obiang, son of the country’s long time president has had 16 million dollars worth of cash and luxury watches confiscated at an airport in São Paulo, Brazil.

In October 2017, Mr. Obiang was sentenced to a three year suspended sentence in France on charges of money laundering.

The entourage was apprehended this today and searched when the discovery was made.

Mr. Obiang is noted for his lavish lifestyle, owning several customs made luxury and exotic cars and properties abroad.

He has come under fire on several occasions for his affluent lifestyle, while majority of the folks in his country wallow in abject poverty.

The Equatorial Guinea embassy in Brazil has not responded to the matter yet.
