The Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has bemoaned the poor road networks in the constituency, saying she hardly sleeps as a result.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful who is also the Minister for Communications made the disclosure on Thursday, January 16, 2020 when she inspected repair works and asphalt overlay on roads in the Constituency.

According to her, the road works was the result of hardwork, constant lobbying and to a large extent, harassment of authorities over the last two years.

The 2.9km Western Link road which is the first phase of the 25km project, when completed, will serve as an alternative route for the main Dansoman highway.

Roads in Dansoman SSNIT Flats, Dansoman Central, New Century, Dansoman Polyclinic, Dansoman Keep Fit as well as Dansoman Last Stop have all seen an asphalt overlay or repair works.

BestNewsGH.com can report Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful after she inspected the Tunga asphalt overlay as saying the completion of the project will enhance and give the entire constituency a major face-lift.

The MP was also hopeful that coastal areas in the constituency including Beach Road and Shiabu among others will also benefit from the massive road repairs and asphalt overlays soon.

Another issue of concern to Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful, BestNewsGH.com can also report, is the challenge of encroachment on the roads by traders and others.

“I will urge all encroachers to vacate and allow a smooth construction of the roads to benefit the masses. We have worked long and hard to see today. It didn’t just happen overnight. It has taken about two years of serious lobbying and harassment of the authorities to get this far and we cannot allow a few to stall the development of this constituency. I am confident that the quality of work being done would alleviate the suffering of a large section of our people…and finally, I can sleep. ” she said.
