BA/R: Dormaa East DCE meets Libyan migrants in efforts reintegrate them into the community

The District Chief Executive for Dormaa East in the Brong Ahafo Region, Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman yesterday, December 30, 2018 met with the Dormaa East Migrants Association during their maiden meeting.

The Dormaa East Migrants Association is made up of predominantly the youth from the area that has migrated to Libya, enroute to Europe in search of greener pastures.

The meeting was aimed at mobilizing the indigenes from the area, particularly the youth, the Libyan immigrants from Akontanim in order to sell some of government’s job creation policies to them. The maiden meeting was held at the Asuotiano community center.

Their objectives are

(a), To act as ambassadors to stop illegal migration ( Libya and abroad )

(b), To promote sustainable agriculture

(c), To advocate for youth in agriculture

(d), To be promoters of health and sanitation

(e), To advocate against bush fires among others

Attendance was great as various irregular Migrants across the District took part in the meeting.
