The Electoral Commission has scheduled the Ayawaso Wesy Wuogon by-election for Thursday January 31 2019.

This was agreed on, by the various political parties and the electoral commission at an emergency Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting today, Monday December 24, 2018.

All the political parties in attendance including the ruling NPP, the NDC, PPP, LPG, APC, ULP and URP, agreed to the set date.

The Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election has been occasioned by the demise of the ruling New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for the constituency, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko who passed on some weeks ago in the United States of America while undergoing treatment for an ailment.

The two major political parties, the ruling New Patriotic Party and the opposition National Democratic Congress are frantically searching for suitable candidates that will contest the seat for their respective parties.

Both have opened and closed nominations with vetting of interested candidates ongoing.
